No. Your Department Head and Dean will not have signing authority on behalf of the ´ºË®ÌÃÊÓƵ of Calgary.
They have the authority to sign various internal forms and acknowledgements, such as Research Agreement Approval Forms, but not legal agreements which contain binding commitments from the ´ºË®ÌÃÊÓƵ of Calgary.
After your research agreement has been reviewed and finalized, the Research Legal team will directly obtain the ´ºË®ÌÃÊÓƵ of Calgary’s signature from an authorized signatory. Research Legal can also support you in obtaining signatures from the other contractual party(ies).
Research Legal will assess which specific individual at the ´ºË®ÌÃÊÓƵ of Calgary is authorized to sign your agreement request. This may include the Vice-President (Research), an Associate Vice-President (Research), or another approved delegate.

If your research partner wants you to sign a research agreement as a private individual (for example, to bind you personally to confidentiality terms), Research Legal highly discourages this practice.
